E.J. Churchill At The Swinton Estate is now open!
The Swinton Estate is one of the largest privately owned estates in England, situated near Masham in North Yorkshire and stretching over 20,000 acres from the River Ure in Wensleydale up onto the moors.
It has been owned by the Cunliffe-Lister family since the 1880s and comprises Swinton Park, the 32-room castle hotel, Swinton Cookery School, the adjacent Country Club & Spa and Swinton Bivouac, the estate’s tree lodge and glamping retreat.
The Estate offers guests and visitors a wide range of outdoor pursuits including walking, horse riding, mountain biking, falconry and fishing.
We are open for Claymate (play & pay), caddied rounds and lessons for experienced shots. We ask that you you in advance and you must bring your valid shotgun certificate with you.

E.J. Churchill Shooting Ground Fearby Cross Masham Near Ripon HG4 4NE

From A1 South Take the turning for Ripon/Thirsk A61 at the roundabout go straight across onto the A6055 (this road is parallel to the A1). Continue for approximately 4 miles to the next roundabout and take the first turning left and continue for approximately 8 miles to Masham.
From A1 North After Scotch Corner approximately 8 miles look out for a turning left for Bedale and Masham. Follow the signs through the roundabouts and continue through Bedale to Masham.
From Harrogate to Ripon (A61) from Ripon to Masham the road is the A6108.
All the above directions will bring you over the River Ure – down through an avenue of trees – stay on the main road past the petrol station (right) DO NOT GO INTO MASHAM.
Take the first turning left (signpost Warren Gill and Fearby) carry on for one mile and you will arrive at the 30mph signs and Fearby (crossroads).Take the right (signpost Warren Gill) and continue for another mile. Over the watersplash approximately 100 metres and we are the first gate on the left. (E. J. Churchill) Continue over the cattle grid to the clubhouse.
From Leyburn/Masham Take the first right junction as you arrive in to Masham signpost to Fearby and Warren Gill, (if you pass the petrol station you have gone too far) and take the directions above.
From Swinton Park Hotel Turn left out of either car park. Take the first right to Fearby 1 ½ miles, follow road all the way to Fearby. At the crossroads, go straight over (signpost Warren Gill) and continue for another mile. Over the watersplash approximately 100 metres and we are the first gate on the left. (E. J. Cancellations | Please allow 48 hours notice for cancelling a lesson or caddied round otherwise you will be charged.
